MySpaceTV First: Original Web Series ‘Roommates’

Iron Sink Media has managed to get a syndication deal with MySpace for the launch of its original web series, “Roommates.”
There are 45 episodes in this series, and the first episode debuts
Monday at 1:00 pm PST. Episodes will be released every weekday from now
until December 21st. Ford Focus has signed on as a sponsor for the
series.

This show is about a group of 8 former college roommates who move to
L.A. and join up to film a reality show Real World-style. There will
also be interactive options for users and extras by way of blog posts
and archives for the show’s characters.

This marks the first time webisodes have been created specifically
for distribution in partnership with MySpaceTV. The partnership entails
a good amount of control for MySpace, with creative decisions left in
the hands of all of the show’s development, from casting to
wardrobe. The hope with this level of control was to make the show
rather custom tailored for the MySpace audience.

Now you can personalize scraps you send to your friends by using basic HTML code to add color, graphics, images, YouTube videos, Google Gadgets, and more.

If your scrap contains an embed, link, or image, you may need to fill in the word verification box after you click “post scrap.”

Orkut just rolling this feature out a few profiles at a time. It may take a few days for you to see the new scrap options in your profile, even though you may have friends who send you rich-content scraps. Orkut can’t add this on a per-profile basis, so Orkut appreciate your patience as we debut this new feature.

Customizing scraps with rich content is easy and only requires basic coding knowledge.

Some tips how to do it

Add images and animations
Copy and paste URLs ending in .jpg, .gif, .png or .bmp and the image will appear in the scrap.
for example, http://example.com/example.jpg

Add videos from YouTube and Google Video
Copy and paste the URL and the video will appear in the scrap.
for example, http://youtube.com/watch?v=videoid

Add podcast/audio
Copy and paste the URL of an audio file and an audio player will appear in the scrap.
for example, http://example.com/example.mp3

Add html-embeddable objects
Create or upload your content at sites such as photobucket.com, imageshack.com, rockyou.com or slide.com. Copy and paste the html embed code to share it with your friends.

Restarting Windows Without Restarting Your PC (Vista or XP)

A modern PC with Vista Home Edition takes about one and a half minutes to boot. An older machine with XP is about the same. That’s 30 seconds for the PC itself (the BIOS) to boot up, plus a minute for the Windows operating system to boot. Sometimes, you need to reboot Windows (e.g. when installing new software), but there is no need to restart BIOS, too. However, the default is to reboot both. (That’s called doing a “cold boot,” rather than a “warm boot.”) There’s a trick that works on both XP and Vista to get it to do a warm boot instead, thus saving you 30 seconds per cycle.

The trick is to hold down the SHIFT key when invoking the restart.

Windows Vista: Select Start, then hover over the right arrow that is to the right of the padlock icon until the pop-up menu appears that contains “restart” as one of it’s choices. Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on the “restart” choice.

Windows XP: Select Start. Select “Shut Down…”. Change the drop-down combo box under “What do you want the computer to do?” to “Restart”. Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on the “OK” button. source
